I am a few days late posting about this, lets just say I have been catching up on sleep I had been deprived of for the last few weeks building this app. So in case you haven’t seen it yet, check out the video of the XFinity Social Remote, unveiled at the NCTA Cable Show Conference last week.
To read more about the app, see the official post on Comcast Voices on the app and its future.

Fantastic stuff 🙂
So, can you blog a summary of the experience building this with Apple’s tools (vs. Flash/Actionscript) ?

Why does the iPad UI look like the crappy UI from the cable box guide? Looks as though the guy wearing the tie was in charge of the UX team. Look to IMDB, Pulse, and Sonos for app design inspiration. You have to break the mold and not constrain the iPad experience improvements to introducing a keyboard. Really? A keyboard is worth talking about? And it damn well should change the channel that is fundamental. Sorry to sound like a troll but I am just not impressed.

You are correct Bill. Unfortunately, this is a very limited app. Comcast is now able to stream live TV, but only when you are in wifi range of your home network. As a DISH Network subscriber/employee I have been able to stream live TV, on demand content, and all my DVR recordings to my android phone anywhere! Check out DISH Network’s Remote Access app to see the much more developed technology using their Sling technology.
